With performance that continues to climb in the second half of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have a great chance to penetrate the playoffs. They have the opportunity to be able to compete directly in the playoffs (assuming they win in the last game against the Jazz and the Warriors lose in the final game). But if the Warriors win, the Lakers must compete in a play-in tournament first to be able to secure a ticket.
Ahead of the important post-season, the Lakers immediately added ammunition. Two additional players recruited by Rob Pelinka are Tristan Thompson and Shaquille Harrison. Thompson himself was a senior player who last competed in the 2021-2022 season ago with the Chicago Bulls. Even though he is old and his productivity is not as good as it used to be, Thompson has a lot of important experience. This is very helpful for the Lakers who need a leader in the playoffs later. Thompson himself admits that he can still appear competitive even though he has not played in the NBA for a long time.
Meanwhile, Shaquille Harrison is a reliable guard in the defense sector. This adds depth to the Lakers to be able to compete against strong teams in the western conference. To bring in Harrison, the Lakers were forced to let go of one player in their squad. Of the many existing players, the Lakers agreed to part ways with Davon Reed.
